Hello Everyone!

Reading week is over and now it is back to reality for me. I hope all of you enjoyed your week as much as I did!

This week I had the opportunity to explore Evernote and it was very enjoyable and educational. Evernote basically helps you keep all of your notes, to do lists, etc. all together and neatly organized. Organization is everything with Evernote. Personally for me this was my first experience using this site. I think this tool will be extremely useful for the collaborative group assignment that is coming up this week in class. The research topic that I will be working on for this assignment is one of the nine elements of Digital Citizenship, Digital Health and Wellness. I get the pleasure of working with two of my classmates virtually while using Evernote! Evernote allows you to collaborate with the individuals that you choose to share your notebooks with. The blog How my students started usingEvernote – Education Series does a wonderful job of talking about Evernote’s different tools and features. It was also satisfying to read that there was positive feedback from students who used Evernote. I think having all my information in a single place will make this assignment run smoothly when collaborating with my group!

I definitely think that Evernote is worth adding to my personal learning environment. This is an organization tool and a collaboration tool that can be useful for my education. Typically I type my notes in lectures and create a bunch of different folders on my computer and sometimes it can get a little messy and unorganized. I think if I give Evernote a try for my lecture notes I can keep organized and even add tags to be able to find information faster. I think that learning how to use all of these different tools is really helping me grow as a digital citizen. Taking the time to explore different tools is really worthwhile because there are so many in the digital world today.

A post from my Feedly that I stumbled on that I think is worth sharing with all of you is about e-mails! Communication is a huge part of digital citizenship and I think it is a very important part of it. This blog post indicates Six Simple Rules to follow in order to increase your chances of getting a response to your e-mails. I know that my e-mail account get flooded with many e-mails on a daily basis and sometimes I might miss an e-mail message and not respond to someone. This blog really focuses on proper e-mail etiquette so that you can send straightforward e-mails to people and avoid any excess writing that is unnecessary to include. I highly recommend everyone to read this!

  1. Hi Brooke,

I hope you enjoyed Reading Week as well. It always go by so quickly which is why I like to be flexible with the schedule around the break. A bit of downtime can make a huge difference in feeling energized for the rest of the semester.

On another note - great article! Email can be overwhelming so I am always open to new tips and ideas. Keeping online material organized, keeps it manageable. We all know how quickly it can build up.

    Sheila
